Information Stored by the Application
AetherLedger stores selected region, data center, home world, interface and market preferences, local watch rules, world and data-center reference records, XIVAPI item and recipe metadata, validated icon-cache records, normalized Universalis listings and completed-sale history, and synchronization freshness state.
Monetary values and provider timestamps are stored in a local SQLite database under Electron’s per-user application-data directory. The app never asks for Square Enix credentials. Buyer, seller, retainer, and creator names from provider payloads are discarded before persistence.
Universalis Market Retention
The available choices are 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days. Database constraints and runtime validation enforce a strict 30-day maximum. Queries apply the active cutoff, so expired observations are excluded even before scheduled maintenance completes.
Cleanup runs after database migration or startup, after successful market synchronization batches, immediately after retention is reduced, and every 6 hours while the app runs. Records older than the UTC cutoff and implausibly future-dated rows are removed. World and data-center catalogs, XIVAPI metadata, and icons are reference data with a separate cache policy.
Clearing Local Data
Settings provides separate “Clear market data” and “Clear metadata/icons” actions. Clearing market data removes listings, sale history, and synchronization state while preserving preferences, reference metadata, icons, and watch rules. Clearing reference data removes the metadata and icon cache independently.
To remove remaining settings and watch rules, exit AetherLedger and delete its Electron-managed application-data directory. The current interface does not claim a one-click full-profile reset.
External Network Requests
When synchronization is enabled, the Electron main process contacts Universalis for market and world-catalog REST requests and opens one secure Universalis WebSocket for live listing and completed-sale updates while the app runs. XIVAPI v2 supplies required item, recipe, category, job, gathering, and icon metadata. A configured direct build may also check a compile-time HTTPS update origin; Store builds defer updates to Microsoft Store.
These providers and network intermediaries can receive ordinary connection information such as IP address, request timing, user-agent or protocol metadata, and requested resource identifiers. AetherLedger has no first-party cloud backend and does not proxy these requests through one.
Diagnostics & Crashes
The app keeps a bounded, rotating local diagnostic log. A user can copy a sanitized summary containing version, platform, migration version, retention, sync state, timestamps, and redacted error categories. It excludes database contents, watch notes, raw provider payloads, credentials, and personal filesystem paths.
No remote crash-reporting service or automatic diagnostic upload is implemented.
This Static Website
This website contains no analytics, advertising, account system, contact form, cookies, local-storage code, tracking pixels, or third-party embedded media. It consists of static HTML, CSS, and local images.
GitHub Pages hosts the public files. GitHub may process ordinary request and service-usage data—including IP address, device and browser information, requested pages, referrer, and request time—under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. Following an external link subjects that visit to the destination’s own policies.
Free to Use, Proprietary Software
AetherLedger is a free-to-use desktop application. It is proprietary software and its source code is not publicly available.
This policy does not grant or invent software licence rights. No approved public EULA is currently available; one is required before a public installer is offered.
